Press play at 2pm on Sunday
Our guests take you through a gentle warm-up, Qi Gong breathing and a slow Tai Chi sequence, move by move, with seated options throughout. The stream plays right here, or watch on YouTube or Facebook and join the live chat.
You will need: a little floor space, comfortable clothes and a sturdy chair.
Why this episode
Slow movement that steadies body and mind
Tai Chi began in China as a martial art and is now practised around the world as gentle exercise: slow, flowing movements linked to the breath. Qi Gong is its older cousin, combining simple postures, breathing and focus to cultivate qi, or life energy.
Both are low impact and can be done standing or seated, at almost any age. Research reviews link regular practice with better balance and fewer falls in older adults, and many people find it quietens a busy mind. On Sunday our guests guide you through it step by step. Healing Our Earth has broadcast free every Sunday since April 2020.

Six ways to start moving this week
Small steps you can take at home before Sunday, whatever your age or fitness.
Set up your space
Clear a little floor space, wear loose clothes and flat shoes or bare feet, and keep a sturdy chair within reach.
Before Sunday
Breathe low and slow
Sit tall, rest a hand on your belly and breathe in through the nose for four counts, then out for six. Repeat five times.
Breath
Stand like a tree
Feet hip-width apart, knees soft, arms rounded as if hugging a tree. Hold for a minute and notice how your balance settles.
Balance
Move from your chair
Every movement on Sunday has a seated version. Slow arm circles and gentle twists keep the shoulders and spine supple.
Seated option
Little and often
Ten minutes on most days does more than one long session. The WHO advises adults over 65 to do balance and strength activity on three or more days a week.
Habit
Bring someone with you
Invite a parent, grandparent or friend to watch and move with you. It is easier to keep going, and more fun, together.
