Covid relief for marginalised communities in rural India

Esther Trienekens, Executive Director Action Village India,  holds a BSc in Cultural Anthropology and an MA in visual Anthropology and is currently the executive director of Action Village India. Action Village India is a small UK based charity that, since 1989, supports Indian partner organisations who work alongside villagers in some of the most remote parts of rural India so they can improve their lives, livelihoods and resilience. Action Village India works towards an India which is just, fair and inclusive, where all people regardless of gender, ethnicity, caste or belief can benefit from the Country’s economic development and lift themselves out of poverty.
Over the past year Action Village India’s work has focussed on supporting their partners to provide covid relief support to the communities they work with. Action Village India’s partners all work directly at the grassroots level across rural India – from Bihar and Jharkhand in the North, in Odisha and down to Tamil Nadu in the South. The communities they work with are some of the poorest in India. In this talk, Esther will be sharing how their partners have and still are responding to the COVID-19 situation in various parts of India.
